Tartessia, the Burning Nation

What is this?

• This is a small setting and hack for the Gold Hack.
• This is an entry for the Gold Jam.
• This is an attempt to put into words some ideas that have been burning in my head for years and years.

A warning

• This ruleset is about social inequality in a semi-historical setting.
• If you are looking for escapism in an RPG (which is perfectly fine), this ruleset is probably not very appropriate for doing so.
• Many of the issues touched by this ruleset are close to real issues lived by real people in our world. Be careful how you play. Remember the human in front of you.
• My personal recommendation is to use the Lines and Veils system along with this ruleset.

About Tartessia

The Land of Metals

Once believed to be the fabled Land of Metals, this region has been the home of several peoples and kingdoms since long before the arrival of the Ebrus Empire two hundred years ago.

A new country

After progressive colonization, the country of Tartessia has very recently gained its freedom from the Ebrus. Its rulers are now their children of firangian ethnicity, rather than the aparantian people most seen among its population.

Civil war

Now Tartessians are locked in a civil war between those under the banner of the city of Ayres, fighting for a centralized nation under its own rule, and those affiliated with Baxada, representing the eastern provinces and their autonomous interests.

Their fight is not only political and economical. This is also a fight of philosophies. Ayres looks at the traditional monarchies of the east for inspiration while Baxada seeks to forge a new path from the people of its own land.
